Clive Staples Lewis was born 29th of November, 1898 in Belfast, Northern Ireland to the family of Albert Lewis and Florence Hamilton. Lewis studied Literature and Classic Philosophy at Oxford University, and was later awarded a Fellowship teaching position at Magdalen College. In 1954, he joined the Cambridge University as a Literature Professor. He married Joy Gresham, an American English teacher in 1956, however she died in 1960 after battling with cancer. He was a novelist with over 40 books, including his memoir “Surprised by Joy” published in 1955. He died on 22nd November, 1963 in Oxford, England.
