Thanksgiving In The Midst Of Storms by Apostle Femi Lazarus

We do not live in a world where everything is good, in fact many things are very bad. We live at a particular time when there is much strife, violence, social and economic upheaval, and even war. In spite of that, we must strive to maintain an attitude of thankfulness and we do that by the consistent practice of thanksgiving, even daily. There is perhaps nothing more biblically prescribed for us than the giving of thanks to God. All through the scriptures, we see believers in God expressing gratitude to Him, for life, provision, and of course salvation. Often times we limit thankfulness to an association with a particular blessing or good fortune–that is the way the traditional narrative goes. But the scripture teaches us that we should be thankful in all situations: in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. The Apostle Paul teaches us that thanksgiving is an attitude of the heart and also something that we literally express, even in difficult and trying seasons of life. When Jesus was having His last supper with His disciples, knowing what was about to happen to Him, He likewise gave thanks: And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, Drink from it, all of you. Imagine that, the Lord, knowing He was about to suffer and die, He gave thanks for the wine, that became the symbol of His own blood. Jesus could give thanks, because He was able to look past His own suffering to what that suffering would mean for the world, even salvation and the hope of eternal life.
