One of God’s greatest desires is not merely to save His people but to continually bring them into deeper dimensions of intimacy, revelation, and spiritual authority. Throughout Scripture, men and women who made extraordinary impact first experienced seasons of spiritual ascent—times when God called them higher to reveal His heart and prepare them for greater assignments. Apostle Joshua Selman explains that spiritual ascension is the believer’s continuous journey of growing in the knowledge of God, conforming to the image of Christ, and becoming increasingly effective in advancing His Kingdom. Ascending is not about physical location but about rising in spiritual understanding, maturity, and communion with God. To ascend is to respond to God’s invitation to higher levels of spiritual growth and intimacy. Throughout the Bible, mountains often symbolize places of divine encounters. Moses ascended Mount Sinai to receive God’s law, Elijah encountered God on Mount Horeb, and Jesus frequently withdrew to mountains to pray. These examples illustrate that God calls His people away from distraction into deeper fellowship with Him. Spiritual ascension is therefore a process of leaving behind carnality, complacency, and worldly distractions to pursue God’s presence wholeheartedly. One of the strongest themes of the sermon is that ascension begins with relationship rather than activity. God is more interested in raising sons and daughters who know Him than in producing people who merely perform religious duties. True intimacy is cultivated through daily fellowship in prayer, worship, and meditation on Scripture.
