The Exit of Moses created a NEW BEGINNING for a nation and also presented an opportunity of NEXT LEVEL for Joshua. It brought mixed feelings. In some sense it was negative because the Israelites were going to miss the only leader they had ever known. Joshua was also going to miss his mentor, guide, confidant, personal leader…. Yet it was a positive thing for Joshua because it was a promotion. Also for the children of Israel, the barrier (Jordan river) they couldn’t cross into the promised land for 40 years under Moses leadership, they were now able to do within 3 days of Joshua Leadership. So yes it was a sudden change and a massive loss but it was also a promotion and a step in the right direction. So something that appears negative may not be completely bad.
