This word strongly indicates that man is of three parts: spirit, soul, and body. The spirit as our inmost part is the inner organ, possessing God-consciousness, that we may contact God. According to the Bible, the soul of a man is a combination of the body and the breath of life from God. At the end of life, when a person dies in his or her physical body, the soul is laid to rest as well, until Jesus comes back to take His children to heaven. When we commit our lives to Jesus and become saved, we are not trying to save only our bodies, we are trying to save our complete souls.
