BIOGRAPHY

Nathaniel Bassey was born on the 27th of August 1978. He hails from Akwa Ibom State in South South Nigeria. His father, Mr. Joshua Bassey, was a minister in Apostolic Church. From an early age, He developed a deep enthusiasm for both music and the gospel at large. In his early years, Nathaniel Bassey developed a rather uncommon interest for jazz music and begun listening, imitating, scoring and playing to the music of some well-known jazz groups, namely Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis and other jazz musicians. He is married to Sarah Bassey and they have two children, a son David and a Daughter Zoe.

He started his musical career in the church where he joined the Rhodes Orchestra and played the trumpet for two years. Nathaniel was just a trumpeter until he composed a song at the visit to late Stella Obasanjo, the wife of the former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo.

In 2017, He kick-started the #Hallelujah challenge a one-hour on praise and worship session to eulogies God. It attracts participants from around the world. This program is really massively-streamed across the globe. The midnight prayer and worship session is often accompanied with resounding testimonies from the viewers. CNN recently reported that about 68,000 people joined his Instagram page and over 50,000 joined his Facebook page, where he streams the event live.

Nathaniel is a degree holder in International Relations and Politics from the famous University of Lagos. In furtherance of his passion, He studied Music at the prominent Middles3x University Summer School, United Kingdom, where he studied Business music and music. Nathaniel’s estimated net worth stands around $500,000, making him one of the richest gospel musicians in Nigeria. Nathaniel’s debut album Elohim was recorded and mixed in Cape Town, South Africa in the year 2008. He is the best gospel Artiste Afrimma, 2017.
