An ideal relationship with God is a personal, intimate, and loving connection, often described in terms of a Father-child or a close friendship/marriage. It is founded not on ritual or performance, but on His initiating love and our faithful, obedient response. The foundation of the relationship is recognizing that God is a loving, trustworthy, and forgiving Father who actively pursues a connection with humanity. A right relationship with God begins with admitting our sinfulness, repenting (turning away from sin), and receiving His forgiveness through Jesus Christ.
