It is healthy to have a strong theological understanding of what really happened as per the earth-walk of Jesus Christ – His birth, death, burial, and resurrection – so that it can become a revelation and an anchor, for the Believer’s journey. The display of the power of the God-head in the power of resurrection, far superceded the power in creation, healing or in miracles i.e. The power that was demonstrated in raising Jesus Christ from Hades, and bringing Him back to the world of humans, levitating Him in ascension, and having Him now seat at the right-hand of The Father. Resurrection Sunday (also known as Easter) is a commemoration, which means: 1. To bring to remembrance. 2. To mark as important. 3. To show honour. It is a celebration of one of the most important pillars of the Christian faith, which is the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. You must believe the earth-walk of Jesus as revealed in Scripture, which gives us a record of Jesus at different stages of His life. The Bible reveals His humanity, temptations, teachings, compassion and miraculous deeds. Jesus came as a marking script: a revelation to mankind, and a bodily representation of God to us, to correct misconceptions about Who God is. The gospel of salvation has six components: 1. The divinity/incarnation of Jesus Christ. (John 1:1,14). 2. The earth-walk of Jesus. 3. The death of Jesus. (John 15:13) 4. The burial of Jesus. (This is proof that He really died: it gave evidence to Jesus’ death.) 5. The resurrection of Jesus. (1 Corinthians 15:3-7) 6. The exaltation and enthronement of Jesus. (Ephesians 1:20-21, Philippians 2:5-11, Hebrews 12:2) The victory that Jesus purchased on the cross covers seven (7) areas: 1. Victory over sin. 2. ⁠Victory over satan and demon-spirits. 3. ⁠Victory over hell – not only hell as a location, but as a spirit. 4. ⁠Victory over the grave. 5. ⁠Victory over death. 6. ⁠Victory over the world. 7. ⁠Victory over the flesh. The components of salvation, help our understanding that Jesus was God, with God, and He wore a mortal body. We must believe that Jesus undertook the normal biological stages of growth, revealing His humanity. His death gave him legal access to fulfil prophecy and His burial gave evidence to His death, because the burial was done openly, so as to give witness to validate the claim. In His exaltation and enthronement, we understand that Jesus left with His body, so we are convinced of His return. In His return, He will not need a virgin-birth again, since He is still with His body, giving legal access back to the earth. Many people think Jesus only died to defeat sin or satan, but His victory is complete, spanning all seven dimensions of sin, satan, hell, the grave, death, the law and the flesh. There is no other statement Jesus will say over your life that is riskier than what He said about His death, burial and resurrection. If he tells you that you have a bright tomorrow, you believe Him, regardless of what you have seen or not seen. If He did it before, He can do it again! Six Implications of The Resurrection: 1. The resurrection of Jesus was a validation that He was truly The Son of God. (Romans 1:2-4) 2. The resurrection gave credibility to all other Words Jesus had spoken. (Matthew 17:5-9) 3. The resurrection is the central theme of the gospel of salvation, and the major anchor of the Christian faith. (1 Corinthians 15:17, John 11:25-26) 4. The resurrection established and sealed the victory of Christ over sin, satan, death and the grave. (Revelation 1:18) 5. The resurrection allows anyone today, who believes in Jesus Christ, to be a partaker of His life and His victory. (John 3:16, Ephesians 1:3, 2:1-10) 6. The resurrection gives every Believer in Christ Jesus, hope beyond death, and hope beyond the grave. (1 Corinthians 15:12-22, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, Philippians 1:21)
