Authority is not a commodity to be bought but is bestowed through a history of private, intimate fellowship with God. Acknowledging the Holy Spirit’s authority is essential for a victorious Christian life and for spiritual progress. All true spiritual authority originates from Christ. Anything not sanctioned by Him is considered falsehood and cannot produce divine life. Individuals are authorized to function as representatives of Jesus. When they act under His direct instruction and submission, it is effectively Christ acting. Spiritual authority in the body of Christ comprises two levels: the absolute preeminence of Christ as the Head (the source) and delegated authority (functions administered on His behalf).
