BEARING THE CRUCIFIED LIFE FOR EFFECTIVE PREACHING By Bro Gbile Akanni

The requirement to be the disciple of Jesus was the bearing of one’s cross. Cross in the old Jewish society means the sentence of death out side the city. It is a shameful death and an hamulating way to die. Therefore, whenever a person is seen carrying cross on the street, such person is know to be a living dead. It was a clear conclusion in Israel that any body who is seen with cross is dead even if it will take such person seven day to carry the cross to the place where he will be crucified. Therefore, the requirements for discipleship by Jesus means a potential disciple must be ready to die to human expectations, societal pressures, peer influences and environmental manipulation.
