Many Christians know that they are saved, but they may not fully understand what their position in Christ means or how that position should affect the way they live, pray, respond to challenges, and advance the Kingdom of God. The central emphasis of this message is that believers are not helpless people waiting for God to do everything for them. Through the finished work of Christ, the believer has been given authority and is expected to understand, develop, and exercise that authority according to God’s will. Apostle Orokpo explains that the purpose is not simply to make Christians feel powerful. Rather, authority is connected to representing Christ, establishing God’s will, resisting the operations of darkness, and advancing the Kingdom of God wherever the believer is placed. A major part of the sermon is devoted to helping believers understand what authority actually means. Authority is not simply the possession of power. Apostle Michael Orokpo teaches that the believer is not powerless. Through the new birth and the finished work of Christ, the believer has been given authority to represent God and advance His Kingdom. But authority must be understood before it can be properly exercised. The believer must know his identity, understand his jurisdiction, submit to God, walk in righteousness, depend on the finished work of Christ, use the name of Jesus, develop spiritual consciousness, and take corresponding actions of faith.
