Mercy is described as God’s system of advantage for the believer. It is the force that realigns a person’s path toward their destiny even when they have made wrong or foolish choices. The sermon emphasizes that being human (a man) inherently involves limitations. Even the most improved human life will eventually reach a boundary where only God can intervene. While the redemptive work of Jesus is complete, it is not applied automatically; a state of brokenness is required to bridge the gap between human failure and God’s mercy. The session contrasts human weakness with rebellion. While God is merciful to the “man” who acknowledges his limitations, rebellion—an intentional rejection of God’s will can block access to that mercy. To overcome human limitations, one must be born of the spirit, carrying a life-giving presence that brings healing and solutions to situations where personal creativity fails.
