Believers must understand their divine assignment and authority in Christ to take dominion, as outlined in scripture. The concept involves confronting and conquering negative spiritual forces (principalities and powers) that currently influence a territory or sphere of influence. This often involves aggressive and persistent prayer. Taking territory requires a specific mindset and a clear vision of the intended area of influence. Believers are encouraged to “see” the territory in their hearts before they can physically possess it. The ultimate goal is to influence the ideology and value systems of a territory so that the culture reflects God’s intent and ways, rather than the prevailing negative influences.
