DEFINITION AND CONCEPT OF DISCIPLESHIP By Bro Gbile Akanni

The first assignment after the announcement of the ministry of Jesus both by man and God’s was the grooming of disciples. Disciples, unto whom the message of the kingdom will be committed after the physical departure of Jesus. The doctrine of discipleship is not an optional exercise or an elective program for a Christian. Discipleship is the school of the spirit where we learn spiritual things that can not be thought in the four wall of any formal institute of learning. We go to schools to learn theories and facts propounded by some people in the ancient time about the world which we live and  guide ourselves  with. Much more important is the knowledge of God and how He purposed in His mind that man should live on the surface of the earth. It is quite disturbing this days when we have ‘Christians’ who were not discipled by anyone. The Disciples were called Christians at Antioch not because of their names, the church they attend or the denomination they claim, they were called Christian because they were observed to be living and doing things the way Jesus Christ was doing things so they called them “little Christ”.
