Dominion is maintained through enlightenment from God’s word, not just physical effort. Rules of Engagement focuses on mastering spiritual warfare through understanding dominion, authority, and accurate prayer, rather than aimless battling. Authority is jurisdictional; believers have authority over spirits on earth and in their environment, but not over spirits bound in eternal chains. Discernment is necessary to know which conflicts are worth engaging in and which should be ignored. Engaging in spiritual or physical battles without proper understanding or light only recycles pain. He emphasizes that light (revelation) provides instant dominion over darkness. Apostle Selman cautions against fasting blindly. He teaches that effective fasting must be governed by understanding the spiritual laws that make it productive.
