Understanding marriage from God’s perspective helps believers appreciate its value, recognize its responsibilities, and approach it with the right attitude. Marriage is not designed merely for personal satisfaction. It is an institution that requires love, commitment, understanding, sacrifice, patience, and a shared willingness to honour God. The first thing believers must understand is that marriage was God’s idea. It was not invented by society or established merely to satisfy human desires. God instituted marriage as part of His original plan for humanity. God designed marriage to provide a relationship in which two people can share life, support one another, and work together. Love and attraction may contribute to the beginning of a relationship, but a successful marriage requires much more than emotions. Feelings can change because of circumstances, disappointments, misunderstandings, and the pressures of everyday life.
