Divine ability refers to the capacity that comes from God and enables believers to accomplish things beyond the limitations of natural human strength. There is a difference between natural ability and divine ability. Natural abilities may include intelligence, physical strength, professional skills, creativity, and talents. These are valuable gifts that can be developed and used productively. Divine ability, however, is rooted in God’s empowerment and the operation of His Spirit within the believer. Every believer in Christ has been brought into a new spiritual reality through salvation. Christianity is not merely about receiving forgiveness and waiting for eternity; it is also about discovering and expressing the life of God that has been made available through Jesus Christ. One important aspect of this new life is the divine ability that God makes available to His children through the Holy Spirit. Many Christians desire to experience the supernatural, fulfil their assignments, and become effective in God’s kingdom. However, they must first understand that the Christian life is not designed to be lived through human strength alone. Through the Holy Spirit, God makes spiritual empowerment and abilities available to His children. These abilities must be recognised, developed, and exercised responsibly for the advancement of His kingdom. However, divine ability must never be separated from spiritual maturity and godly character. The purpose of empowerment is not self-exaltation but faithful service and the expression of Christ’s life. Every believer should therefore cultivate fellowship with God, study His Word, develop spiritual gifts, pursue holiness, and become faithful in the opportunities available.
