Except you love for God exceed that of give and take relationship, you are not better that the hypocrite. The genuine love of God is that which is selfless and does not expect anything in returns from His love for God because he knows that God is everything. There are many so called Christian who are transactional children of God. They worship to get healed of diseases, they pay tithes to get blessed in returns, they fast to get promotion and do spiritual exercises for what they want from God. These are people referred to be using God and not being used by God. God lovers submit their totality to God and depends on Him for their needs to be met.
